Ian : We went for a train trip weekend up to Inverness - the capital of the Highlands,
thanks to a £15 return ticket deal from Sainburys, our local supermarket.
Getting the train is a nice way of seeing the country along the way.

From the train, there was November snow on the high ground just an hour before Inverness.

The B&B we chose turned out to be really lovely and run by this really lovely woman
who set us on our way walking to see the Caledonian canal.

At night, we wandered around in the bitterly cold air, saw the impressive theatre
& cinema complex and, of course, the visuals of an ancient UK city
with all it's lovely old stone, brick and a never ending & huge amount of
water always flowing down the river Ness.

The Caledonian canal - which, with the help of Loch Ness and other lochs
provide passage along the fault line from one side of Scotland to the other.
