Ian : My bargain-hound sweetheart sniffed out a couple of well-priced berths on the overnight Caledonian Sleeper train and we took leave of Glasgow on the long weekend that is the Glasgow fair weekend, a long weekend when, in the old days most of the industry closed down completely for 4 days.

Our sleeper compartment

St Pancras station

I wonder if they have an electric model ?

Our lovely friend Jeff on the worlds longest escalator.

Treating ourselves to tea and cake (with pinkies extended) at the Victoria & Albert museum cafe !

'Lush' doesn't even begin to describe it !

Hampsted heath is a gloriously huge and rambling park

Afternoon at Covent Garden.

We took the train south to Henry the 8th's cosy lil' cottage.

Pretend slices of roast and the wonderfully spacious kitchen.
I'd love to have big hearth like that, but I'm afraid, in reality our whole kitchen would fit inside that hearth !

bit of London scenery

We did our pilgramige to the very posh LIBERTY store.
Just to point and stare and go oh errr !

The tower of London ( a model, not the real thing )

The White tower - the first bit to be built. By my ancestor's best mate - King William the 1st.

Armor-plated horse & rider

Hens party on the prowl (at breakfast time!)

... and this lovely evening sky I took with my big ol' medium format Bronica film camera :

AND ! . . . Glasgow hosted the World Pipeband Championships
You could easily hear it all over the city centre !
